The patient may try to make himself vomit in an attempt to overcome the guilt of having eaten too much. This is also done to maintain body weight. Those who suffer from this condition usually weigh normal. Even if they are overweight, they are not obese. The third kind of disorder is called binge eating disorder. This is a psychological condition in which the desire to eat reaches an extreme level. The patient will eat too much and too fast. One of the differences between binge eating disorder and bulimia is that in binge eating disorder, the patient does not make an effort to purge himself of the excess food ingested. Also, the patients are almost always overweight, most of them obese. Another major difference is that patients who suffer from bulimia consume an abnormally huge quantity of food and then vomit it out. This is referred to as binging and purging. Whereas, anorexics also throw up, but they do this without eating at all. As against this, patients who suffer from BET only binge but they donĀ't indulge in purging.
